The Reality of Missions

Acts 1:8 “…and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Faith Promise Missions is “My faith reaching God’s heart, and in return His salvation reaching the world.”  Many do not understand the great importance of Missions.  In order for us to truly have a burden for Missions we must realize some things.

1. Realize the Enormous task that has been set before us        Acts 1:8

2. Realize the success or failure of this endeavor depends on us and our church

This task requires an attitude of ‘one accord’                    Acts 2:1

This means every member must be involved                     Matthew 28:18 (The Church)

This means every member has an obligation to send or to go                    Matthew 28:19

This means every member has an obligation to pray for success   Acts 1:14

This means every member should pray or fast for our Missions Conference        Acts 1:14

3. Realize that God’s Missions Program costs us nothing I Corinthians 8:1-8

The financing of Missions is a work that God does in the life of His people.  The process is simple.  Pray, fast, and ask God what He would have you to do for World Wide Missions.  God gives you an amount that you are to give each week during the coming year.  Then, each week give it by faith and God gives it back to you each week.

How will He do this?

He increases your income

He decreases your expenses

He works miracles

He enables you to live and give sacrificially

4. Realize there are Bible examples of the correct way to approach Faith Promise Missions I Corinthians 8:1-8

They were not able to finance the offering they were giving                     v. 2

They were able to give out of God’s resources      v. 3

They first gave their own selves to the Lord                      v. 5

They abounded in the grace of giving        v. 7

They proved that they loved God              v. 8

They made a promise a year in advance    v. 10; II Corinthians 9:2

They acted according to their promise       v. 11; II Corinthians 9:6-7

5. Realize that if you go or send, God will be your unseen companion Matthew 28:20

Faith Promise Missions is a cooperative work with God

Faith Promise Missions work is never done alone by the individual

Wherever we go, God goes with us
