“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” – I Corinthians 4:2
We have dealt with the Stewardship of our tithe and the stewardship of our talents. This week we will discuss being a good steward of our temple.
What is a steward?
Our Temple I Corinthians 6:19-20
Once you get saved, your body becomes the temple that the Holy Ghost dwells in.
Because we serve God with our physical body (Romans 12:1), then we must also take care of our body for the Master’s use.
I Thessalonians 4:3-5; Proverbs 23:2, 21; Galatians 5:22-23
How can we be good stewards of our Temple?
Our Lord’s Example Matthew 26:36-44
Our Saviour is the greatest example that we have to follow. He was tempted like as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus Christ never once yielded or surrendered to what His flesh wanted.
Notice His prayer in the Garden. He was 100% God and still 100% man. He was God in the flesh and still carried His Deity.
Three times He goes to pray and all three times He says the same thing (V. 39, 42, 44). What was He asking His Father for?
Notice Matthew 4:1. Everything that Jesus Christ did could have been done for Himself because He is God, yet for our example He did everything according to the Father’s plan and the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Remember, it’s not about me and you. It’s all about Him!
We need to be mindful of keeping our vessel with honor and sanctification. Remember, we are just stewards and we are going to answer to God one day for what we have done in this body. What will you have to answer for?
