God’s Love this Valentine’s Day

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) This is the time of the year where everyone is focusing on what they are going to do for the one they love as they prepare for Valentine’s Day. May I remind you, in the midst of your busy schedule that we need not forget what Jesus has done for us. We often go out of our way to do something special for our ‘significant other’, but we often forget that God loves us more than anyone ever has. Paul begs us Romans 12:1 to present ourselves to God. While you are doing something special for the one you love this year, may you remember to give your life to the Lord because He has given everything for you!

The Lord Blesses When We Are Faithful

Today February 2, 2014 started off as a type of day that every Pastor I know of dreads. Temperatures below freezing and a wintry mix of sleet and snow were already present. Already we were looking for a below average attendance, and no one wants that especially when they have a special speaker in to start a conference. Many churches in the area cancelled their church services and spent the day at home with family. Not us at Cornerstone Baptist! What if Jesus would have said, “sorry it is not very easy up on this cross and this cross is not comfortable. I just cannot make this sacrifice for you.” He would not have done such a thing, but when it comes time for us as Christians to really show some sacrifice back to him and faithfully serve him, we say sorry, it is too inconvenient for us. But us at Cornerstone said, Lord let Thy will be done… The Lord blessed and we saw four people trust Christ as their personal Saviour, two people follow the Lord in believer’s baptism, and one rededicate their life to the Lord for his service. God again showed us how he blesses those who faithfully trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

What is a fundamentalist

What is a fundamentalist?

I thank God I’m saved! I thank God I’m going to Heaven when I die! And, I thank God I’m an Independent, Fundamental, Bible-thumping, Baptist preacher! I thank God for a fundamental Baptist church. The Bible is the Word of God. That’s what we preach. We use the KJV by conviction and without apology. Now, what is a fundamentalist? A fundamentalist is somebody who not only embraces the fundamental doctrines of God and is saved, but he opposes that which is evil and wrong and separates from those who are liberals and modernists, who do not hold the fundamentals of the faith. Now a modernist is one who believes in man’s wisdom instead of God’s wisdom. He rejects revealed truth. A liberal is a person who is in step with the world’s views, it’s philosophies of man, who holds man’s views and not God’s views. A liberal is opposite of being a conservative. A liberal Christian is one who won’t stand on much and condemns those who do. And our churches are filled with them…

Church Fellowships and Activities

At Cornerstone Baptist, we try to stay busy and active with fellowships and activities for both young and old alike. There is a saying that an idle mind is the Devil’s worskshop, and we believe this to be true. You will constantly have friends and fellow Christians to keep you motivated and encouraged by being faithful to the many activities and fellowships that we keep on our schedule. At least once a month, the church hosts a potluck after a Sunday Evening. This is a great time to sit down with new visitors and members and get to know each other better. The Lord has truly been blessing our church, and we would love for you to come be a part of what God is doing in McAlester, OK through Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Unfortunately the principal guilty party in prohibiting the free exercise of religion, a guaranteed constitutional right, has been the Supreme Court. However, Congress is not without blame in regard to the Supreme Court overruling the expressed will of the people. Under Article III Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution, Congress has the power to regulate the appellate jurisdiction of the Federal Courts, yet Congress has rarely been so bold to speak out against the judiciary. It is no secret that our forefathers fled England to escape abuse of governmental power! … America, are you ready for judgment day?
