Find Your Place

As Christians we are called to serve and not just to fill an empty pew. We at Cornerstone Baptist Church strive to give people the opportunities they need to serve the Lord with their life. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour is not where being a Christian stops. Being a Christian involves us following Christ’s footsteps and obeying his command. We can find this command in Matthew 28:19-20 saying:

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We are commanded. It is not just a suggestion or opinion of our Lord, but it is a command.  This command is three-fold. First we are to go. Where are we to go you may ask. We are to go into all nations. Start where you and then everywhere your life takes you continue. Jesus specifically commands us to go into all nations. We have the ability today with modern technology to travel and to support others to travel to all nations. we have no excuse. The second part of this command is to teach. Going and telling people about Jesus and the gospel is not enough. We need to teach them. As you see in the verse previously mentioned teaching is not just once but is ongoing and continuing after baptism. This brings us to the third part of the command which is to baptize. Baptism is a picture of the gospel to others and also a picture of the bodily resurrection of the saints to come. The command is applicable to everyone of us who have trusted in Christ. If we expect our children to obey us, then how much more important is it that we obey our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
